Driver Blog
Welcome to my new website
April 26th 2011
It’s been a busy time building up to the start of the 2011 racing season. Aside from developing my performance driver coaching business, Bradley Ellis Racing, I’ve been busy creating a new brand and a fresh new website.
It takes time to come up with a completely new brand and a website that suitably reflects that new identity, so I’m really pleased to finally be able to launch bradleyellisracing.com
The actual site design came together fairly quickly but it has taken time to polish off the finer details. Everything I do has to be perfect and there was no point launching it until it was right.
I wanted something a little bit different from my website, not just what everyone else goes for, and that’s hard to achieve when you have to have certain basic elements. I needed something that really reflected me and my personality, both inside and outside of motorsport.
The new brand really lifts the site. My entire online presence is rightly influenced by the completely fresh new look. I’ve come a long way in recent years and the new identity is certainly one that will grow with me as I continue to move up through the sport.
It’s never been more important for a driver to be commercially aware and an online portal is essential. It’s vital for me to portray the right image to help attract career partners, whether manufacturer support or new sponsors. It’s key to surviving in the sport.
Another main aim of the site is to reach motorsport fans across the world. I’ve raced across Europe for many years in various categories, so it’s great people can now find out what I’m doing and where I’m racing.
Social and online media has moved on a lot since my old site was built. The new site unites all my online entities, including direct links to my Twitter and Facebook accounts. As well as following those pages, fans can sign-up to receive my latest news and race reports, contact me for performance driver coaching, and enjoy a new gallery that will display the best action images.
One of the biggest new features is a blogging column, which I’m a little apprehensive about but I’ve been doing social media for a while so I’m sure I’ll soon get the hang of it.
The site is designed by Fathom (www.fathomgroup.co.uk), who I’ve worked with since I branched into sportscars. They understand what I want and I know how they do things, so we’ve been able to work well together to create an exciting new brand and develop a great new site.
Aside from their portfolio, I favour working with Fathom because they are based in my home town of Croydon. I’ve always felt it important to reinvest in local business, where possible, rather than going to faceless big agencies who won’t understand me or what I want.
Naturally, a driver’s website has to follow a fairly familiar content format but I think we’ve achieved a site with a different look and feel. It will continue to evolve in the coming months, as sponsor partnerships and hopefully manufacturer relationships progress, so make sure you keep checking back.
